Burial Ground

I visited Baysville on the weekend, and now that it's Friday I'm finally getting around to posting some photos from the adventure. Baysville has a nice little dam on the river that goes through the main part of town. Linsee and I went down there for an adventure. While sitting on the rocks with my camera, she pointed out a little crayfish on the rocks, but it swam away backwards as I slowly and cautiously approached it. Anyways, I went lower on the rocks and found this little grave yard of crayfish bodies. It was pretty creepy at first, but turned out some neat, and interesting photos. Here they are!

Been Too Long

Here's a picture of PAlex, she's not been around dmilwain.blogspot for too long, so I unearthed this photo from last summer. It was taken in a grocery store in Wasaga Beach. Good times, hopefully we'll have some good road trips this summer too! Unfortunately I can't drive though, stupid expensive insurance. Reminder to everyone - buy my prints and support a struggling artist.

Innocent Liar

More from Jemo, I've been busy lately doing many different things, but my photos have been lacking as a result. I have loads to get ready and put up from my weekend up north. I went to multiple weddings over the weekend, and had an awesome time!

Keep checking back here, and tell James and Jeff how sexy they are, you can even add them to myspace. Tell them I sent you, and leave them nice comments!

End Of This Line

This was my last day at my co-op job this Spring, I was getting on the train for the last time.

How sentimental of me.

Yeah, hope you liked my post from Friday - I didn't post all weekend for two reasons, one because I was busy with attending weddings, and two because I wanted to let my anniversary post last a few days a top my blog site so as many people as possible could get the chance to see it. New pictures should be up for tomorrow!

The Avenger

This guy is a sneaky little fella', can't you tell? I know he's plotting something, just not sure what yet. Hopefully I'm on his good side. I'm thinking he's on my side, and he'll help me win in the room and board costs dept. Happy Hump Day to everyone.

Barts People

"Joe Banks... 82 years young has come to this pond every day for the past 17 years, to feed the ducks. But last month, Joe made a discovery... the ducks... were gone! Some say the ducks went to Canada, others say Toronto. And some people think, that joe used to sit down there, near those ducks. But it could be, that there is just no room in this modern world, for an old man... and... his ducks..."

Pops Day

Happy Fathers Day to all those old men out there, most importantly this guy. ^

I took this photo when I bought my first Canon 'L' glass at the Henrys product show in Toronto last month.

Wild Side

Hello everyone! It was requested that I show a full picture of this tattoo on Linsee's side, so for those who wanted to see it - here it is, most of it.
In other news, I sold my wide angle lens today, meaning now I only have one lens to my kit, and an oversized bag to carry my camera. I went from 5 lenses 2 or so weeks ago, to 1 lens. Fund me so I can buy more lenses for my new camera :)

A Mild Convenience

This was really cool when I saw it. Back when I was working in Hamilton, taking the GoTrain each day, and filling my blog with pictures of the boring trains I took this photo of the escalators at the Bronte Station. They were doing maintenance on the sections of one of the escalators, and parts were taken off. This is how it looked in Tokina Wide-Angle form, it'll be sad to see this lens go - it's given me some great shots, and lead me to a love of WA. Tomorrow I will no longer own it, FJ is buying it off me, we will all look forward to the shots he'll get from it. :)
I said I wouldn't post a people picture today, and I kept my word.

Smiling Bright

This is another from my shoot at Gairloch Gardens with Fatma. I'm very happy with this shot, much more than my last few I've processed. Hopefully you all like it as much! I'm open for ideas on photoshoots, and more importantly models for experience. I want to build a portfolio of oudoor model shoots and portraits. Let me know if you're available for a shoot anytime! Also, I know that I said I'd have some non-people shots tonight, but I wasn't able to get any ready, sorry. Hope this one is okay for the night.

Write It In The Sky

Since I've been posting lots of pictures of people recently, I decided one more would fill my front page, and cap it off for now. I've got some other images to go up after this, but I really liked this shot of Linsee. It was taken under a halogen bulb, and then desaturated to add a bit of mood. I hope you all like it. I do!
Till tomorrow,

Cing Celeb

Here's a character that once saw frequent appearances on dmilwain.blogspot. However, I don't get the pleasure to see him much lately as we're living far away once again. So, today, I take you back to Autumn 2005 in Waterloo Park, and give you another opportunity to see this faded, once celebrity of my site.
Love, David
ps. Chris, we all love you.
pps. everyone from Waterloo should roadtrip out to Oakville to see me, my doors are open to visitors, always!

Worth It

Anto plays bass - going to see Sydney is worth it for sure. Right now they're on a cross Canada tour with Ten Second Epic. Wish them luck, and go see them when they come through your town.

Be Sure To Wear

...some flowers in your hair.

Let me introduce you to Fatma, we met last fall, and became friends. Now she wants to take advantage of my photography skills to be a model. So, here she is.

Tell me what you think. This was taken at Gairloch Gardens in Oakville this past week, it was my first real shoot with the new camera. Tell me how I'm doing, as always.

Unfinished Business

This right here is Nicholas, together we started making canoe paddles last summer. However, he finished his on his own, and mine sits unfinished in my closet in my house in Waterloo. I was planning to finish is with him this summer, but with me not going back there to live, that plan fell through. Will I ever finish this paddle? Who knows, but I do have this photo to remember Nick by. He likes his black and white film and his trusty manual Minolta camera.
See you soon buddy!

30D Spin

***Click the picture to view it at a more appropriate size ...

Kevin likes to spend money, lots of money. Today we went on an adventure to Henrys in downtown Toronto, and he fulfilled his dream of spending lots of his money on new camera gear. Not only did he buy a sweet new body, and a sweet lens, he also bought some fun accessories. Good times were had, then we went out shooting with our new gear.

Moral of the story - if I ask you "should I bring my flash", you say yes, and then force me to bring it, cause fill flash is awesome times. Thanks.

Love, Dave

ps. if you're lucky Mr. Hiscott will post some new pics from his new gear tonight - if not, it's not my fault. At least I held up my end of the bargain.

pps. these pics of Kevin and his camera are my first shots online taken with my new camera.

enjoy.

Weed We Say

This is a picture of a plant we see cluttering up our lawns, we complain, we pluck them out, and kill them with chemicals. Are they really that bad? They add colour to an otherwise boring green grass cover, and cause no physical harm. I enjoy dandelions, and they're also fun to rub on peoples faces. Don't get rid of them, they're not an invasive species. However, you are, and you cause more damage to the planet on the whole.

A New Day

Hey everyone! I finally have a new camera, well not so new. The camera came via Express mail and arrived on my doorstep this morning. Perfect timing, I can get some shots of the studio tonight. This is my first pro model dSLR, although it is 5 year old technology, I still consider it a huge upgrade from my old dSLR. I'm trying to get used to it, as it is build different from the ground up, and all of the controls are completely different. It's so pretty.

But more importantly - onto something else that is very pretty. Here's another from the shoot Jennifer and I did the other week. This has had a lot of processing work done on it to give it a different feel. I'm trying to branch out and learn new things, so that each time I shoot I get different results.

Please let me know what you think of this one, do you like it? hate it? find it intriguing? whatever, let me know!

Stay Back

This is the roadie of the band .moneen. that I took pictures of a couple of weeks ago in Waterloo [two posts down]. He came onstage before the encore and did a mad solo on the guitar. Good times. Everyone was cheering for him - he was well loved :)
